Scripture for reflection:
Our God comes; he does not keep silence; he is a devouring fire, and a mighty tempest.
1 Corinthians 3:13–15 (ESV)n 13 each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.
Psalm 97:3 (ESV) 3 Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around.
Exodus 19:18 (ESV) 18 Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly.
Revelation 22:20 (ESV) 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
Matthew 12:36–37 (ESV) 36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
“Hear, O my people, and I will speak; I will testify against you. I am God, your God.
Psalm 81:8 (ESV) 8  Hear, O my people, while I admonish you! O Israel, if you would but listen to me!

Nehemiah 9:29 (ESV) 29 And you warned them in order to turn them back to your law. Yet they acted presumptuously and did not obey your commandments, but sinned against your rules, which if a person does them, he shall live by them, and they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck and would not obey.
Isaiah 1:11 (ESV) 11 “What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats.
Isaiah 1:13-14 (ESV) 13  Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly. 14  Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.
The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me;
Psalm 27:6 (ESV) 6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
Psalm 69:30 (ESV) 30 I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
Amos 4:5 (ESV) 5 offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of that which is leavened, and proclaim freewill offerings, publish them; for so you love to do, O people of Israel!” declares the Lord God.
Psalm 54:6–7 (ESV) 6 With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you; I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good. 7 For he has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.
